Intermediate
Churchill Park Intermediate
At Churchill Park School, we value the opportunity for our senior students to complete their intermediate years in a familiar, supportive setting. This continuity fosters a smooth and confident transition, allowing students to thrive in an environment where strong relationships are already well established and further strengthened.
Our Rangitoto Team—Years 7 and 8, plays a pivotal role in guiding students through this important stage of development. With a focus on increasing independence, personal responsibility, and self-awareness, our teachers empower learners to take ownership of their progress and grow into confident, self-directed individuals who contribute positively to their community.
Our intermediate programme is purposefully designed to meet the evolving needs of students during this critical phase of academic, social, and emotional growth. Through a dynamic and future-focused curriculum, we ensure every learner is challenged, supported, and inspired to realise their potential.
Empowering Learners for the Future
Our Intermediate curriculum is purposefully designed to support learners at a pivotal stage of growth, academically, socially, and emotionally. We provide a future-focused learning environment that fosters increasing independence, self-awareness, and personal responsibility.
Our integrated curriculum builds on strong foundations while extending and enriching learning across all areas. Students are encouraged to think critically, solve problems collaboratively, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves as learners. Opportunities in areas such as science, technology, the arts, digital technology, and physical education broaden their experiences and prepare students for the next stage of their education.
Leadership, service opportunities, and real-world learning are embedded throughout our programme, giving our senior students the chance to lead by example and contribute meaningfully to our school community. This tailored approach ensures our intermediate learners are challenged, supported, and inspired in a familiar and nurturing setting, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and mindset to thrive in college and beyond.
Sports Programme
Churchill Park’s Intermediate sports programme offers something for everyone, from passionate competitors to those trying a new sport for the first time. Students can get involved in a wide range of codes, including netball, basketball, volleyball, hockey, touch rugby, water polo, gymnastics and orienteering, with opportunities to represent the school at Interzone and Eastern Zone competitions.
Our calendar also features key events like Swimming Sports, Athletics Day, and Cross Country, where participation, personal bests, and school spirit are celebrated. The programme values inclusivity and effort, encouraging students of all abilities to get involved, stay active, and develop teamwork, resilience, and leadership through sport.
In addition, students take part in our Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) Camp, where they develop confidence, resilience through outdoor adventure and team-building activities.
Our sports programme fosters not only physical development, but also values such as perseverance, cooperation, and a strong sense of belonging.
Opportunities that Inspire
Churchill Park School’s Intermediate provides a variety of opportunities that inspire and challenge every learner. From Mathex, EPro8, Kids’ Lit Quiz, Writer’s Festival, and Dancesport, to hands-on Food Tech, Water Safety, and Challenge Days, students can explore their passions and develop new skills.
Leadership is a valued part of life in our Intermediate, giving students the chance to step up, represent their peers, and make a real impact in our school community. Whether serving as House Captains, Wet Day Monitors, Peer Mediators, or as members of the Student Council, learners develop confidence, communication skills, and a strong sense of responsibility. These roles empower students to lead by example, work collaboratively, and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture.
