What is Kapa Haka
Kapa Haka is a term best described as traditional Māori Performing art. Māori dance is often seen as sign language - performers matching actions with the words of the waiata. This is what our tamariki/children of Churchill Park are learning to do with our new action song.

My husband, Alex Griffith and his brothers grew up in Glendowie and all attended Churchill Park Primary. In fact his oldest brother was in the first intake of students back in 1964. Alex and I have been living in the area now for 27 years. Two of our 3 children are still at Churchill Park Primary. As a parent and one that grew up performing in Kapa Haka with my wider whānau I have always loved the togetherness or whakāwhānaungātanga we felt when we all got together. The love of Kapa Haka carried on through my Secondary school years. I have volunteered my time to help at this school with Kapa Haka and hoping to enrol more parents to jump on our waka to see where it takes us. Any queries please ask at the school office.
