Te Roopu Kapa Haka ō Churchill Park
Greetings and welcome to the Kapa Haka page of Churchill Park School
He Poi (Poi waiata)Aue Rona e
Takoto ana au Ki te mo-enga uriuri. Tu ake au Titiro ki te atarau. Kei runga ra, Te marama e whiti ana Kei hea Rona Kei roto ra. Piri ki te taha, Piri ki te ngai-o. Aue ra e Rona e Aue Rona e, hi! | I'm lying in my darkened bedroom and after a while get up to look at the moonlight. It's up there, the risen moon, and there's Rona in the middle holding the calabash, holding the ngaio tree. How sad for Rona! Alas, all alone! |

HE WHAKATAUKI "Waikato Tāniwha rau, He piko he tāniwha, he piko he tāniwha e!" "NGĀTI PAOA TĀRINGA RAHIRAHI!" Ka tū nei au I tōku taumata ki runga ō Hapuakohe, ki nga wai o Mangawhara e rere iho nei. Tainui te waka, e tere nei I te moana. Tae ra noa ki tona taumata ki Kawhia. Ki reira moe ai te waka ō Hoturoa. Kā māwhiti tāku haere ki Waikato, ki Hauraki, ki Ngati Paoa. E kia nei ko nga uri o Paoa. E kokō ia e ara e Tēnā rā tātou kātoa, My name is Leigh Takirau. My husband, Alex Griffith and his brothers grew up in Glendowie and all attended Churchill Park Primary. In fact his oldest brother was in the first intake of students back in 1964. Alex and I have been living in the area now for 27 years. Two of our 3 children are still at Churchill Park Primary. As a parent and one that grew up performing in Kapa Haka with my wider whānau I have always loved the togetherness or whakāwhānaungātanga we felt when we all got together. The love of Kapa Haka carried on through my Secondary school years. I have volunteered my time to help at this school with Kapa Haka and hoping to enrol more parents to jump on our waka to see where it takes us. Any queries please ask at the school office. Ngā mihi māhana kia koutou. |
