From our Principal - Marie Todd
The term is now in full swing, and our children are well-settled into the final weeks of 2026. Teachers and staff are making the most of the available learning time, advancing classroom programmes, consolidating key skills, and preparing students for a successful finish to the year.
|
This year, our main prizegiving will include all Year 4–8 students and will be held on Friday 12th of December, 11am in the Glendowie College Hall, where we look forward to celebrating student progress and achievements across academic, cultural, sporting, and citizenship areas. We are excited to welcome whānau to this combined event, which supports a strong sense of community and allows us to recognise the many successes our tamariki have achieved throughout the year.

In addition to the formal prizegiving, we will hold a Service Assembly on Friday, 21st of November, 9.15 am at CPS to acknowledge students who have contributed their time, leadership, and effort to various areas of school life. This includes roles such as student librarians, house captains, student council members, peer mediators, Enviro Team, and other students who have supported the smooth running and well-being of our school. Their contributions make a meaningful difference, and we look forward to celebrating them.

We are also gearing up for our school Athletics Day, a highlight of the CPS calendar. Students are currently practising running, jumping, and throwing events, and it has been fantastic seeing their enthusiasm and determination. We encourage whānau to come along, cheer from the sidelines, and enjoy a great community day together. Further details regarding times and arrangements will be shared shortly.

Next year, CPS will transition to HERO, a modern school communication and reporting platform. HERO will streamline communication between home and school by combining notices, absences, reports, and learning updates into one accessible location. This means families will be able to receive reminders, view school information, and access their child’s learning progress easily from any device. We will provide support and login information early next year to ensure a smooth transition for everyone.

As always, thank you for your continued support of our school, our staff, and most importantly, our students. We look forward to a positive finish to the year and to celebrating the successes of our wonderful learners.

Class Placement 2026
As you are aware, the teaching staff put considerable time, effort and expertise into ensuring the right choice for class placement for your child in 2026. Factors such as learning needs, strengths, emotional and social maturity, behaviour and teaching/learning style awareness are all taken into account. Staff know the children and their learning needs extremely well and strive to make the best possible placement for them.

If there are any learning or behaviour needs that are not currently known by Anne-Maree Beveridge or Kynan Watt, please email the Principal, Marie Todd, PRIOR to Friday 7th November - principal@churchillpark.school.nz. Parents are not able to select classroom teachers.

Book Week Information
|
It's Book Week in Week 6 and we have an action packed week planned here at CPS. Book swap, whare reading, and teacher swap to name a few. And of course, everyone's favourite, the Book Character Parade! Please see here for a detailed view. There are tabs on the left of the doc with more information.

2025 Year Book
|
Remember to order your 2025 Year Book through Kindo. We will only have limited copies avaialbe, so please order now to avoid disappointment. If it is not on your child's kindo account, it means you have already ordered it! You can double check by looking under 'My Orders'.

Return of Cups
|
If you received a cup or trophy at last year's award ceremonies, please return them to the school office by Friday 7th November. Thank you.

Ballroom Dance Competition

Congratulations to Anna L, Year 5, who came 7th place in the ballroom dance competition at the 74th New Zealand Open Dance Championships. That's a great achievement, Anna.

School Payments
|
The School Donation remains at $525. Most parents will be entitled to claim a tax rebate - if you are a top tax rate payer a 33% reduction is available.
|
|
|
|
Please make school payments through your mykindo account. There are several methods to add funds to your account. Add regular topups if you'd like, then allocate to payments when you're ready, or just pay as you go. mykindo is also where you can order school lunches. Set up your kindo account.
