A warm welcome to our new students and families who have joined us this week. It’s great to have you join our school community and share in your child’s learning journey.
|
Daylight savings brings a sense of summer as we move towards the end of the year, feeling lighter and brighter, not only in the weather but also in ourselves and our well-being, being able to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.
|
We have an exciting term ahead filled with opportunities for our students, from athletics to book week, to swimming, and let’s not forget honing our literacy and numeracy skills, which are put to good use across all curriculum areas!
|
We have been advised that teachers who are union members will take strike action on Thursday, 23rd October. Teachers continue to advocate for fairer pay, better working conditions, and greater support from the government, which ensures the best outcomes for our tamariki. As a school, we stand in support of our teachers and their collective voice. We are also mindful of the impact this action can have on families. While our teaching staff will be striking, we will have a small number of staff available to provide supervision for those students whose parents are unable to make alternative arrangements. Please note this will be skeleton staffing only, and no formal learning programmes will run on the day. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to keep your child at home to support the teachers on the day of the strike. For those who cannot, please complete this form so we can plan appropriately. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of both our teachers and our school community.

During the holidays, the boundary trees along the school perimeter have been pruned and reshaped into a hedge. This work was undertaken following a Board decision, after it was identified that the trees had not been maintained for some time and had become a hazard, impacting the safe passageway in and out of the school. In addition, their extensive root systems have caused significant damage to drainage pipes, guttering, and contributed to the subsidence of the school hall. With a large number of mature trees across our grounds, regular maintenance is essential to preserve both the beauty of our environment and the integrity of our key infrastructure. The Board’s proactive approach ensures we continue to protect the school’s assets while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our community. As mentioned in my previous newsletter, in the short term, the trees may look a little bare and uneven, however, this is a normal stage in the process. Pruning encourages healthy new growth, which will gradually fill these gaps and create a thicker, more uniform hedge.

Class Placement 2026
As you are aware, the teaching staff put considerable time, effort and expertise into ensuring the right choice for class placement for your child in 2026. Factors such as learning needs, strengths, emotional and social maturity, behaviour and teaching/learning style awareness are all taken into account. Staff know the children and their learning needs extremely well and strive to make the best possible placement for them.

If there are any learning or behaviour needs that are not currently known by Anne-Maree Beveridge or Kynan Watt, please email the Principal, marie Todd, PRIOR to Friday 7th November - principal@churchillpark.school.nz. Parents are not able to select classroom teachers.

|
Remember to order your 2025 Year Book through Kindo. We will only have limited copies avaialbe, so please order now to avoid disappointment. If it is not on your child's kindo account, it means you have already ordered it! You can double check by looking under 'My Orders'.

School Payments
|
The School Donation remains at $525. Most parents will be entitled to claim a tax rebate - if you are a top tax rate payer a 33% reduction is available.
|
|
|

Please make school payments through your mykindo account. There are several methods to add funds to your account. Add regular topups if you'd like, then allocate to payments when you're ready, or just pay as you go. mykindo is also where you can order school lunches. Set up your kindo account.

Glendowie Light Market Stall Signup
Stall holder signups for the 2025 event are now underway for makers, creators, and businesses who want to be part of this community event with a big heart. Stall fees support charity: All stall holder fees and proceeds from the kindy bake sale will be donated to charity.
