From our Principal - Marie Todd
As we reach the end of another wonderful year at Churchill Park School, I want to take a moment to reflect on all that we have achieved together in 2025. It has been a year filled with energy, growth, and connection, from classroom learning and sports days to performances, outdoor adventures, and community events that remind us how special our school truly is.
|
Our learners have continued to stand tall and aim high, showing curiosity, creativity, and compassion in everything they do. Across the year, we’ve celebrated academic progress, sporting success, artistic expression, and the many acts of kindness that make CPS such a positive and inclusive place to belong. None of this would be possible without the ongoing support and partnership of our parents and caregivers. Thank you for your involvement, be it volunteering, attending events, helping with transport, or simply encouraging your child each day. Your contribution makes a tremendous difference.

This term also brings moments of farewell and gratitude.
Tracy Gough will be retiring at the end of this year after many years of service to Churchill Park School. We thank her for her commitment to her students, her professionalism, and the care she has shown throughout her time here. We wish her all the very best as she enjoys a well-deserved retirement and more time with her family.
|
Vicki Finnigan will be taking leave for 2026. Her enthusiasm and dedication to our learners are greatly valued, and we look forward to welcoming her back in 2027. A big thank you also to Linda Bartlam and Jennifer Kang for their support of our learners this year. Their contribution and willingness to join the CPS team have been much appreciated.

Next week, we also farewell our Year 8 leavers, who are ready to take the next step in their learning journey. They leave us as confident, capable, and compassionate young people who have contributed so much to our school through leadership, creativity, and service. We are proud of all they have achieved and the people they have become. We wish them every success and happiness as they move on to new opportunities and experiences at Intermediate and beyond.

As we close the year, I wish everyone a wonderful, restful Christmas break. Take time to enjoy family, sunshine, and the simple things that make this season special. Thank you once again for your support, trust, and belief in our school. I look forward to seeing our returning students and welcoming new families in 2026 for another exciting year of learning and growth.

Year 4 - 8 Prizegiving
|
Just a reminder that this year’s prizegiving for years 4-8 will be held at Glendowie College, starting at 9.15 am. Please drop students off by 8.50 am, so teachers can call the roll, and they have time to settle before the event begins. Parents are welcome to be seated in the hall, ready for the start of the prizegiving.

Parking on Kinsale Ave
|
We have had more feedback about parking on Kinsale Ave. There is plenty of street parking. Please avoid the yellow lines and driveways. And please do not park in the Girl Guides carpark. Cars have been blocked in and the people that operate out of the hall need the carpark.

Discontinuing Seesaw
As of January 2026, Churchill Park School will be discontinuing the use of Seesaw as our Online Portfolio Platform for sharing student work and reports.
|
Over the years, students have posted examples of their work to share with parents. This is also where school reports have been posted. If you would like to download and keep this work and reports, the instructions are provided below.
|
|
If you want to do this, it is recommended that you do so before the end of December.
|
|
|

From 2026 our school will be switching to a new Student Management System called Hero.
|
|
|
This will become our ‘one stop shop’ for all communications, notification, absences, student reporting… and more.
|
More information will follow over the coming weeks but you can start your Hero journey by downloading the app today.
|
|
The password parameters are: password must have a minimum length of 14 characters, contain upper and lower case characters, at least one number and at least one special character.
|
|

EPro8 Auckland Grand Final Winners!
|
On Wednesday the 3rd of December, team ‘Dingaling’ traveled to Auckland Normal Intermediate School to participate in the Auckland Grand Final of Y7/8 EPro8 Challenge. We were one of the top 12 Y7/8 EPro8 teams from all across Auckland. We were feeling excited and nervous at the same time. When we arrived at the venue, we looked around at the equipment. The theme was ‘Secret Spies’. Once the competition started, we quickly decided which challenge we would like to work on. Our team worked really hard together to problem solve and come up with creative solutions to build a Laser Security system, and a remote bomb disposal robot. As the evening went on we made our way to first place, although we know the scores can change at the final judging round. We waited patiently for our score, knowing full well that there was only 10 points difference between first and second place. When the third then second place teams were announced we knew we had done it. After a drumroll, our team name came up. 1st Place - Winners! We won the Grand Final for the Auckland region! We learned a lot, had lots of fun and enjoyed all the challenges. Thank you Mr Dean and all the parents that came to support.

Christmas Cheer at St Andrew’s Village
|
Last Friday, Rms 12 and 13 visited St Andrew’s Village to share their Christmas songs with the residents of the Care Facility. We delighted them by singing all our old favourites - grooving along to Rock ‘n Roll Christmas, shaking our bells for Jingle Bells (Kiwi Style), and even including some NZ Sign Language for Aotearoa Christmas. Ka rawe Year 3 students - you gifted them so much pleasure with your beautiful voices and smiles.

School Payments
|
The School Donation remains at $525. Most parents will be entitled to claim a tax rebate - if you are a top tax rate payer a 33% reduction is available.

Waitematā and Karaka swimming contribution is $90. If you have already paid, thank you. If not, your prompt payment via kindo would be appreciated.
|
Please make school payments through your mykindo account. There are several methods to add funds to your account. Add regular topups if you'd like, then allocate to payments when you're ready, or just pay as you go. mykindo is also where you can order school lunches. Set up your kindo account.

If you’re handy on a BBQ and want to support our school, we’d love your help!

Kids love a good sausage sizzle, and every fundraiser helps the PTA support Churchill Park School.
|
|
|
|
We already have someone from this year who can help, but we’re looking for someone to take on the role, run it independently, and manage the sausage sizzles with full support from the PTA.
|
|
|
|
Has your child grown out of their CPS uniform? Please do remember donating it to the second hand uniform shop. But PLEASE ensure zips work, buttons are present, not too much paint/ vivid on shirts and blouses.

We have Christmas activities and a movie each Thursday night in the Tamaki Ex Services Association Hall.
|
The village is open late on Thursdays for shopping and dining - with a free goody bag for the first 50 shoppers to spend $50 or more after 5pm.

Santa is in the village Thursday 4, 11, 18 from 5pm to 8pm and Saturday 13 and 20 from 10am to 1pm. Santa is dog friendly on Saturday 13th, so bring the whole family for photos.

There is a new hockey turf being built in Colin Maiden Park – AUHC has worked hard over
many years for this to finally come to fruition and it is looking on track to being opened in early 2026. We are very excited to finally have our own home turf! Join us for this very exciting
new chapter in our history.

New Zealand Traveller Declaration
|
Going overseas for the school holidays? Everyone travelling into New Zealand must complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration, including returning New Zealand passport holders.
|
If you’re travelling as a family or group and completing multiple declarations, the NZTD app allows you to copy your travel details into another declaration, making it easier to complete multiple declarations for the same journey. The submitted declarations are then all easy to see within the app.
|
The New Zealand Traveller Declaration collects travel, customs, immigration and biosecurity information and aims to improve the safety and security of New Zealand. It replaces the paper card you used to fill out on the plane.
|

To make your arrival easier, do your digital declaration before your flight back to New Zealand.

There is a new youth initiative called RD Street — a 3v3 street football festival taking place in January at Sacred Heart College.
RD Street is inspired by Roy D’souza’s own journey growing up and learning the game on the streets — a place where creativity, confidence, resilience and problem-solving were developed long before structured coaching.
Our aim is to bring that same sense of freedom, fun and flair to young players today.
What makes RD Street unique?
