The term is certainly whizzing by, and it is hard to believe we are already in Week 9! While an 11-week term may feel a little longer than usual, schools do not determine the overall length of the school year. The Ministry of Education sets the required number of teaching days, and schools work within these parameters when selecting their start and finish dates. That said, our students and staff have continued to work hard, and there is still plenty of learning and excitement ahead before the holidays.

We are looking forward to welcoming whānau to our upcoming Maths Open Morning next week, Wednesday 24th June, starting at 9.05 am. This is a wonderful opportunity to see mathematics learning in action and gain a deeper understanding of the refreshed Mathematics Curriculum that our teachers are implementing across the school. Supporting our tamariki to become confident, capable learners is an important part of our Thriving Tangata strategic goal, and we look forward to sharing this learning journey with you.

This term also sees the introduction of our refreshed school reports. These reports provide parents with a clearer picture of their child's progress and achievement in English and Mathematics. Over time, we will continue to develop and enhance reporting to include a broader range of curriculum areas such as Physical Education, Digital Technology, Music, and our school values, providing a more comprehensive understanding of each child's growth, strengths, and learning journey. Here is a small preview of what you can expect.

Year 7 & 8 Technology Consultation
|
|
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing rich learning opportunities for students, we are currently consulting with the community on a proposal to enhance the Year 7 & 8 Technology programme through a partnership with Selwyn College. This partnership would provide students with access to specialist facilities and teaching in Hard Materials (woodwork and metalwork), Textiles, Food Technology, and Design Technology, including 3D printing and laser cutting. Several neighbouring schools already utilise this model successfully, and it has the potential to significantly broaden the range of practical, hands-on learning opportunities available to students. These experiences foster creativity, problem-solving, innovation, and real-world skills that support future learning pathways.

A huge thank you must go to the many parents and whānau who generously volunteer their time to coach and manage our winter sports teams. It is fantastic to see our fields, courts, and sports grounds buzzing before school as students train, develop their skills, and build friendships. These opportunities simply would not be possible without your support, and we are incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and enthusiasm you invest in our children.

This is it whānau! It’s that time of year when youth across Aotearoa come together for The World Vision 40 Hour Challenge - happening from June 19th-21st 2026.
We’re challenging you to go offline for 40 hours and raise funds so children in Solomon Islands can get the nutritious food they need. Whether it’s no phone, gaming, social media, or even power. You get to choose what you’ll do and how you’ll do it.

World Vision Recycle Fair
|
|
|
Next term, on Thursday 30th July, we will be holding our biennial recycle fair to raise money to support our two sponsored World Vision students, Fahim and Hiya, from Bangladesh.
|
We are actively seeking quality books, games, puzzles and toys to support this worthy cause. We will also have a bake sale and would appreciate baking on the day.
|
|
If you are having a clear out over the holidays, please consider donating items to this worthy cause. Please drop any donations to the office from now on.

School Payments
|
The School Donation remains at $525. Most parents will be entitled to claim a tax rebate - if you are a top tax rate payer a 33% reduction is available.
|
|
|
|
Please make school payments through your mykindo account. There are several methods to add funds to your account. Add regular topups if you'd like, then allocate to payments when you're ready, or just pay as you go. mykindo is also where you can order school lunches. Set up your kindo account.

|
