Specialist Learning Areas

Engaging and Motivating Curriculum

At Churchill Park School, we are proud to offer three specialist learning areas that enrich and extend our curriculum. These specialist programmes provide students with a diverse, well-rounded learning experience, offering rich opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, and engage in meaningful, hands-on learning beyond the core classroom programme.

Music

Our school is proud to have a purpose-built music room fully equipped with a wide range of high-quality instruments that inspire creativity and expression. Every class enjoys a dedicated hour of music each week with our specialist music teacher, allowing ākonga to listen, sing, play, move, and create in a vibrant and supportive environment. Music at Churchill Park School is more than just a subject – it’s a chance for students to explore their talents, build confidence, and experience the joy of making music together.

Sport

Sport is a valued and integral part of our school curriculum, providing students with opportunities to develop physical skills, coordination, and positive sportsmanship. Through a range of structured programmes, students are supported to grow in confidence, teamwork, and resilience. In addition to these programmes, daily fitness and team sports expose ākonga to a wide variety of sports and games, promoting a love of physical activity and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles. Netball, basketball, softball, cricket, swimming, athletics, flippa ball, cross country orienteering, gymnastics and rippa rugby are just some sports on offer.

Digital Technologies

At Churchill Park School, growing responsible digital citizens is an important part of our curriculum, empowering students to become creators—not just users—of technology. From Year 1, ākonga begin learning the basics of coding through tools like Bee-Bots and Scratch Junior, gradually building their skills. From Year 4 onwards, students explore platforms such as Scratch, Minecraft, M-Bots, Ed-Bots, iMovie, and Garageband. Through both classroom integration and inquiry projects, students learn to think computationally and design digital solutions that are purposeful, creative, and relevant to the world around them.
