Transition to School
Pre-Visits for New Entrants
Starting school is an exciting milestone, and our Transition to School visits are designed to help make that step a smooth and positive experience for both children and parents.
Each child is invited to attend two classroom visits before their first day. These sessions typically take place on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30pm–2:50pm, although times may vary depending on school events. You’ll receive an email with the specific dates and details for your child.
During the visits, children experience life in a classroom and begin to learn routines that will support their independence as learners at Churchill Park School. A class buddy may be assigned to help your child settle in and model simple routines like where to put their belongings or find the toilet.
- For the first visit, a parent or caregiver is required to stay. You’ll also have the opportunity to attend a Q&A session with Anne-Maree Beveridge, Deputy Principal.
- For the second visit, we encourage children to attend independently in the classroom to help build confidence and familiarity, while parents are still onsite.
Please let your child’s classroom teacher know about any particular strengths, interests, or things your child enjoys. We love getting to know each learner as they begin their journey with us!
